Abstract
Natural cytotoxic cells (natural killer, NK) are lymphoid cells of the innate immune system. The persistence of an antigenic stimulus can lead to an exhausted cell state and the accumulation of mutations can transform them into malignant cells. Aggressive NK cell leukemia (ANKL) is an entity caused by these transformed cells. We present here a clinical case of ANKL and a review on the immunophenotype of NK cells.
