Abstract

Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is a hematologic neoplasm that originates from lymphoid lineage precursors and, depending on this lineage, can be broadly classified as B-cell or T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Moreover, it is a malignancy in which survival rates decrease with age: adults have a survival rate of approximately 40%, whereas Young adults (between 15 and 39 years of age) present rates ranging from 50% to 60%. An integrative literatura review based on scientific articles published within the last ten years revealed that only one study reported a higher overall survival rate in the group treated with immunobiological therapies. This outcome was attributed to the fact that, in the other analyzed studies, overall survival rates were not significant for the treatments assessed, mainly due to limitations in studies involving elderly populations. Despite advances in the treatment of ALL, the management of these patients remains controversial.
